Jackadder Lake water level

Over the past few months we have seen the lake water level drop dramatically to levels not seen for the past few decades. The low levels also meant the pelicans were having a smorgasbord feeding on any turtle and water fowl hatchlings, plus a vast array of fish who were now within easy reach. Fortunately for us we operate in the deeper parts of the lake thus have still managed to keep sailing, albeit in muddy water.

The issue appeared to stem from the Water Corp's new weir built near Pearson Ave (from where Jackadder receives its water during summer) which was declared unsafe to fit the level control boards, thus nothing was done. Stirling had no jurisdiction over the weir and thus a standoff occurred between them and Water Corp. Emails were sent to the Minister for Water, State Member for Churchlands and CEO Water Corp to no avail. Elizabeth Re, our local Stirling Councillor, was able to get an interview on ABC which was quickly followed by Channel 7 (organised by the Woodlands Progress Association) and Post Newspaper, resulting in Water Corp refitting the boards and water has begun flowing back into the lake again.
