Inaugural Brent Field Memorial event deemed a huge success
With an outstanding turnout on the day of 15 IOMs and 13 DF95s the day was a huge testament to how well thought of Brent was in this and other clubs, a valuable member who is sorely missed. Brent was innovative, always willing to assist or offer advise to those willing to learn and although he was the Club Champion in 2022, he was more interested in having fun and socialising than the competitive side of sailing.
PRO Warren Rock was ably assisted by Bob Paton and Mal McKercher, managing the large fleet and variable SW winds. Recent rains ensured the lake level was high and minimal weed was evident and the two-on-two-off format kept the officials on their toes. We were honoured to welcome Doug and Margaret Field (Brent's parents) and Brent's wife Jane Cutler, who also presented the prizes, along with Mishy, Brent's dog. The large flotilla on the water attracted higher numbers of spectators than usual, although the sunny day may well have been a factor. Thanks to Mal for the great photos too.
Visitor Glenn Dawson took out the IOM trophy with Edgar Vitte second and Craig Taylor third whilst Justin McAulay raised the DF95 trophy followed by Len White and Mark Walker
